‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 video: Cobie Smulders, Josh Radnor talk 200 episodes
“How I Met Your Mother” may be in repeats until Monday, January 13, but what better time is there than now to try and continue celebrating the show’s great legacy? On January 27, the 200th episode of the show is going to air in “How Your Mother Met Me,” and it’s a big one. It is that opportunity to see the title character (played by Cristin Milioti) over the years, and learn about all of the times that she has almost spoken with Ted, only for it to not to happen. (Personally, we’re hoping for more details on the yellow umbrella as well as the classroom.)
Basically, the theme of the video below from the show’s official YouTube page is one big party. You can see in it the entire cast, from Neil Patrick Harris to Milioti to Cobie Smulders, talk a bit about what is has been like for them to be a part of this crazy celebration over the past nine years. You also get rare video appearances from co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, whose brilliant minds have given us things like slap bets and Robin Sparkles, as well as CBS programming honcho Nina Tassler.
Early buzz on this episode is that it is more than just a funny hour of TV chronicling the early days of the Mother; it’s also an emotional tour de force that will remind you why you love this show in the first place. You will cheer for Milioti more than ever by the end of the half-hour, and want that moment where Ted finally meets her to just be there already. Given all the time that they have spent building this up, you know that it’s going to be the sort of moment that you sit back and rewind three or four times before going forward into the next episode.
