ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3 spoilers: Trouble ahead for Emily and Aiden?

Emily Thorne’s life is going to be very difficult when “Revenge” season 3 picks up starting on January 5 … and a big reason for that may simply be that Emily Thorne is not going to even remember who she is. She is in an extremely vulnerable position to be taken advantage of by the Grayson family, just as she is to forget about who all of her friends are. The only person to gain something out of this situation without malicious intent may be Jack.

Speaking to E! News, new showrunner Sunil Nayar was quick to say that someone who is probably going to struggle with Emily’s new problem more than anyone else is her real fiance in Aiden, who has to come to terms with the fact that he’s not getting out of the Hamptons as he first planned, and he is with a woman who, unless this is some sort of elaborate ruse, has no real recollection at all as to who he is or what he is about:

“His future’s just been upended and Emily’s going to have to stay in the Hamptons for a little bit, and it’s confusing to him … [In addition to this, there’s] another great introduction into the nature of the Aiden backstory that sort of takes him into the future that shakes things up between him and Emily, too.”

The idea of learning more about Aiden to us is mostly exciting just because of the opportunity that it brings to care more for who has been to this point a pretty isolated and enigmatic character. A good comparison here could be “Scandal” before we knew about Huck and what he went through. If this show could do the same thing with Barry Sloane’s character, then Aiden could be on his way to being a fan favorite.
