‘American Idol XIII’ to reportedly introduce new Hollywood Week twist
Hollywood Week is the most terrifying part of the “American Idol” experience. This includes having to do such things as adjusting your sleep schedule (basically so that you can handle getting none of it), learning songs and lyrics in virtually no time, being able to handle singing in front of other contenders, and also working with others during group rounds, our personal least-favorite part of the entire competition.
While some of these elements may or may not be in play this year, there are some details coming out now about one twist that will be in play moving forward. According to a report from Mjsbigblog, a new twist has move into the competition where you really want to try to get three “yes” votes at your audition if you want to feel safe early on in Hollywood Week. Contestants who receive this would automatically go through, while the contestants who divided the judges had to perform again.
Probably the best comparison that you can make here is to “So You Think You Can Dance,” who can either put a contestant straight through to Vegas, or put you in choreography first. Obviously, the major difference is that you’re having to advance to the next round before being forced to do something extra, but this is a smart twist, in that it gets rid of some of that early riffraff of people who may have just advanced thanks to a lucky song, or getting some of the judges when they were in a good mood. Human error does come into play a lot of the time.
We will have some more news as it comes out about some of the twists on “American Idol XIII” soon, but know this: We’re not going to be spoiling any outcomes. It’s our policy at CarterMatt that we’ll talk about format or song lists, we don’t ruin any outcome of a show. This is, after all, the reason that so many people watch in the first place.
“American Idol” will launch season 13 on Wednesday, January 15, and if you click here, you can read a little bit more about why some of the judges on the show are really hoping to get you to watch.
