‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Ashley Williams returns, also gets lands pilot role
December is turning out to be a pretty great month for Ashley Williams. The actress, best known for playing Ted’s former girlfriend Victoria on “How I Met Your Mother,” is first of all going to be returning for at least one final guest spot during the show’s ninth season. This news was confirmed in a report from TVLine recently, though details are scarce as to what role Victoria is going to have in the proceedings now.
Could she be the baker of Barney and Robin’s wedding cake? Outside of that, we see no other use for her at the wedding, and that is not meant as any slam towards Williams whatsoever. It is just that we feel like there has already been closure with the character on a number of occasions, and this may be better suited for some sort of flashback sequence where we explore a little bit about why Ted broke up with her in the first place: Robin. While this sort of came up on Monday night’s episode that Ted is moving in order to get away from her and start fresh, Barney still does not know the lengths that his “best man” has gone to try to win her over.
Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Williams has also been cast in the new Jim Gaffigan pilot for CBS, where she will be taking on the character of the comedian’s wife. There are not too many details about this project just yet, but with the talent attached here and CBS’ lack of success with new shows this year (only “The Millers” is really making a big impression, and that is with a lot of help from a lead-in), this show could have an opportunity to succeed.
“How I Met Your Mother” returns to CBS with new episodes on Monday, January 13. If you want to read some more details all about what you can expect, just be sure to click here. We’ll have more news to share soon.
