‘The Following’ season 2 spoilers: Joe Carroll lives in new promo

From one standpoint, you would think that “The Following” would be anxious to keep a certain amount of its story under wraps for the upcoming second season. But, at the same time, they have not exactly been shy when it comes to teasing a certain part of it publicly: You are going to see more of Joe Carroll on the show throughout the new season.

Heck, the new promo below is entitled “Joe Carroll lives,” and it features James Purefoy’s character running around in the flesh…. or is it just a bunch of his followers wearing masks of his face? This is the first footage of him that the show has doled out for us, and it looks just as creepy as ever before.

But is Joe really going to come back? It depends on how great of a story that they have for him. If it’s incredible, then we will proclaim without a doubt that the show made the right decision. However, if it is in any way disappointing, then we will have to wonder whether or not it would have been much smarter for the show to have came up with another concept for the season that allowed for one of the other characters to taken over the reigns as villain, and inflict all sorts of nasty carnage in their own way. Joe is compelling, but it feels like we already know just about everything that he’s capable of.
