‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: More fun with John Goodman, Taran Killam, Kings of Leon
Tonight, “Saturday Night Live” is upon us for what could be a very funny show … or if nothing else an interesting one.
Over the past week or so, we’ve been trying to desperately figure out why in the world the masterminds behind the show thought it was a good idea for John Goodman to actually be the host for the show. From one vantage point, we get that he is a pretty funny guy. He was on a classic sitcom in “Roseanne,” and he’s done a number of noteworthy movies as of late. He could basically be the third Cohen brother at this point if he wanted to. But in coming back to “SNL,” what does he bring to get the people in the demo watching? This is going to be a show that is probably somewhat about material, and will have a different feel than most other editions. Goodman’s best at playing funny characters that also double as being somewhat terrifying.
As for the musical guest, it’s Kings of Leon. What we appreciate about them is that they are all actual musicians, and it’s nice to have a real band on the show. On the flip side, we’ve never been big fans of their music, and we imagine that this will be about promoting new music rather than some of their old hits.
Below, you can see the latest short promo featuring Goodman with the band, along with a pretty funny video where Taran Killam answers some questions from the rest of the cast and the viewing public. Basically, it’s a reminder that Taran is funny even when he is just being Taran, and this has been a pretty great fall for him already. He’s got arguably the best new character of the season in Jebidiah Atkinson, and he and Bobby Moynihan are probably the elder statesmen now along with Kenan Thompson.
What do you expect to see on “SNL” tonight, and do you think that Goodman could possibly bring on some of his famous friends? Share some of your thoughts below! Also, be sure to bookmark the link here, and come back after the show airs for our full review.
