NBC’s ‘The Voice’ top 5 rankings: Are Cole Vosbury, Jacquie Lee close to locks for finale?
There’s an interesting bit of irony now going into the semifinals for “The Voice” this season. Even though we have three artists left from Adam Levine’s team, we feel like none of them are favored to win the competition. They’ve all had a good run, but there’s a very little chance that any of them makes it to where they are standing on that pedestal, holding the championship trophy above their head.
But even with that being said, we’re pretty thrilled with the top five this season. They’re all great in their own right, perform very different music from each other, and could do something significant after the show in their own genre. Our rankings are more a measure at this point of where America is going with their voting and iTunes sales, and also who seems to be on the best trajectory now to take the competition home in the end.
5. James Wolpert (last week: 5) – James had a decent week on the show in terms of performances; personally, we loved his take on “I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).” But, he struggled in iTunes sales, and he is going to need to go into beast mode now to crack the top three as the only performer left who America has been forced to save on one occasion.
4. Tessanne Chin (6) – Tessanne had a great week with “Redemption Song” selling well, and she could make it into the finale without anyone batting an eye. What’s her biggest obstacle? Finding the right song, when you know already that there are going to be a few others that have scored better overall than her in terms of sales.
3. Will Champlin (4) – Will’s the biggest darkhorse right now. If he has another performance like “At Last,” he could suddenly find himself creeping into the top three or two. We also really liked his Avicii cover on the show last week, and how this was different than almost anything else that we’ve seen from his so far. If he keeps his game at the same level, he should make the finale.
2. Jacquie Lee (2) – There is one thing to us that Jacquie needs to do if she wants to be tied at the top of the leaderboard: Take on a fast-paced song again that just allows her to go nuts. Christina Aguilera has been giving her too many ballads as of late, especially when we know what she’s capable of. But this show is called “The Voice,” and in terms of range and power, nobody else this season can touch her.
1. Cole Vosbury (1) – But, this show is often about more than just the voice at this stage, though Cole has a pretty incredible one in his own right. It is about making audiences feel something, taking them back to a certain part of their lives, or giving us something new. We thought that Cole and Blake were a little safe with the song choices this past week, but America still supported him on iTunes. Now that he has this sort of following under his belt, just imagine what would happen if he can unearth another little treasure like he had with “Let Her Go” or “Adorn.”
Now, we turn it over to you, fellow “Voice” fanatics! Share your favorites in the poll below; also, click here if you are curious to see just who from past seasons will be returning to the show this week to perform.

Cole by far! Sorry hate being screamed at….Jacquie, Tessanne….. Sorry “Bridge over Troubled Water” should never be screamed. Angel sung by Jacquie just not real.

Great performance by Tessanne. There are no more troubled waters for her. Her performance has now furnished her with clear, clean and beautiful waters in which she can move towards the sea of success.

The other twist this Monday is that the show has been reduced to one hour from its usual two, ceding the second hour to The Sing-Off. With the usual filler and incessant ads, it’s likely the Top 5 will have just one song each to make their case for inclusion in the finals. With the rankings as close as they are, one make-or-break song choice substantially increases the stakes.

You’ve been counting Tessane out for some weeks out and she keeps surprizin you. And you get even more ridiculous when you equate what Jacqui Lee does to range …seriously. I guess youre talking about range in screaming and if that’s youre brand of whiskey–no wonder Tessane is rated so poorly by you.

I am probably buoyed by Adam’s comment that he has already chosen the perfect song for James, and I’m predicting he’s gonna do the best in iTunes this week. Yes, I feel ballsy today.
I would really like it if all the Top 3 were from Team Adam…No, it’s not because I’m a Team Adam fan. It’s mainly because if Cole reached the final he would definitely win it, as he’s way ahead when iTunes sales of the entire season are counted. Right? Plus, he’s also on Team Blake.
I really like Jacquie, but I think Tessane is a much superior version. To be fair, Jacquie is only 16, and I’m hopeful she will go on to become a powerhouse singer in the coming years.
It’s all mixed emotions, but what a fantastic season this has been. Still can’t believe Matthew got knocked out…Peaked too early, huh?

“in terms of range and power, nobody else this season can touch her”. < this is a joke, Jacquie is no where near Tessanne in terms of range or power! further more Jacquie has no range

I actually have Tessanne higher in my rankings. I have Cole first by a small, but comfortable, margin. Tessanne is second, but followed very closely by Jacquie (3) and Will (4). James is fifth and probably can’t escape the bottom without a mega hit. Prior to this week’s performances, I think Jacquie and Will are neck-and-neck for the final place in the Top 3. But, Jacquie (in particular) isn’t that far behind #2 Tessanne. Good or bad song choices by Tessanne, Jacquie and Will determine which two get into the finals with Cole.
