‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Darren Criss’ Blaine, other seniors to ‘remix’ classics for 100th episode
“Glee” may not always have the best ideas these days, but we do personally feel like the plan for the 100th episode coming up is somewhat interesting. Rather than just having another episode, or one that more or less leaves the fans out in the cold, the show has decided instead to create an episode that really gives you an opportunity to be involved in the music, and the ten (!) songs that are covered over the course of the episode.
The list is a pretty massive one that you can see over at the show’s official Facebook page; of the tracks included, there are some that probably don’t need to be done again like “Defining Gravity” or “Don’t Stop Believin’,” mostly because they have already been done more than one on the show in some shape or form. However, others like “Raise Your Glass,” “We Are Young” (which was done before the song was a hit on the radio), “Keep Holding On,” or one of our favorite Santana performances ever in “Valerie” are ones that could be worth looking back at. “Keep Holding On” has an even greater emotional attachment to it now thanks to its usage on “The Glee Project” (a better show than “Glee”?) for all of the sendoffs.
The one thing that may be at first somewhat distressing is that all of the tracks are to be performed by the group of students currently at McKinley High. But, there is a logical reason for it in that the songs will be performed by the seniors as they look back on their time at school, and plan for their future. This may mean that this is the last episode of not just this group at McKinley, but also the school as a regular part of the show. While it is not confirmed yet, we hear that the plan is to shift away from showing most of those stories once graduation is over. (Tough news for Marley, Jake, and company? Probably, but we imagine that they will get there own little send-off and could return for small roles in the future.)

Firstly, would you guys stop saying that the show is crap! Seriously, the ideas are perfectly fine! Seriously. Just because the show is taking a different spin doesn’t mean the ideas are any less moving or exciting. Yes! I admit there have been a few episodes where you could say they were filling in time, however the majority have actually been really unusual ideas. Take the Puppet Master for example. That was a fantastic idea. Really different and unusual, something you wouldn’t expect. That’s what it’s all about, creating ideas that the audience won’t expect and obviously keeping a stable storyline. Yes, there have been holes where the storyline of a character has been left, but if you listen carefully to the dialogue, a character or characters mention where they’ve gone or what’s happened. A cover up, and an easy way of making up the mistake, but still it’s there. You guys also have to understand that it’s pretty difficult to come up with new and exciting ideas each week that will appeal to your audiences. Don’t discard Glee because of one bad episode, or even a couple. Seriously, where has there been a season that you’ve seen where there hasn’t been a bad episode or an episode that wasn’t up to the standard of the others. I’m yet to come across one. It doesn’t mean I discard it. Anyway, I really like the direction Glee is heading. I would think it boring that the show continue to stay at McKinley and their only goal was Nationals all the time. It’s already been done. The goal has been achieved. Although there was much controversy about the 4th season and what it brought to the table, I really liked it because it was unusual and new ideas were being played around. I especially liked the drug idea (because it does happen) and the school shooting, because again (it does happen.) It’s also interesting to see how the actors/actresses deal with these new situations – challenging their acting a bit. So, I do not think it’s such a bad idea to move the cast away from the base of McKinley High. The original characters are graduating. It’s time for a change. I also do not think that Glee as a whole, is getting bad or less exciting at all. It’s changing. It’s growing up, just like the characters.
