‘The X Factor’ UK: Gary Barlow claims it may be better for Tamera Foster if she doesn’t win

Tamera -While not everyone is saying it, it appears to be almost an unwritten claim that most judges on “The X Factor” UK believe that Tamera Foster is the only contestant left this season with the potential to really be a radio-friendly pop star. While we don’t necessarily believe that to be true (and we also think Simon Cowell is putting way too much emphasis on millions of sales as a measure of success), we understand the reasoning behind the statements. Tamera is young, sings pop music, and has a bit of an edge about her. While there is a problem here in that she’s not particularly likable, the record label folks apparently think that they can work to fix that.

The latest example of the judges talking about Tamera comes now courtesy of Gary Barlow, who makes a pretty interesting claim on the “Front Row” program that the singer would be better off when it comes to pressure finishing in second or third place than she would be necessarily winning the whole ordeal:

“I kind of hope she doesn’t win. Because I think she’d be better as a second or third, moving forward into next year.”

There is a certain amount of logic in this statement, at least in that three years ago, One Direction, Cher Lloyd, and Rebecca Ferguson all finished behind Matt Cardle on one of the show’s most-popular seasons ever, and yet all three of them are now more popular acts on the music market. Heck, One Direction is now one of the biggest acts in the entire world.

We do at least agree with Gary that Tamera is not going to win the competition, but we see her probably getting to around fifth place at least. Even if she is put into the bottom again, the judges will probably save her unless she is up against someone like Sam Bailey or Rough Copy, who have shown the same sort of talent without ever being in danger before.

Do you think that Gary is on to something here, and that it is better in some ways to not win “The X Factor”? Be sure to share some of your thoughts on this controversial subject below!
