‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 9 video: Barney’s latest challenge is a trashy one

Get ready -We still have no idea what the point of Monday night’s “How I Met Your Mother” episode is supposed to be. On the surface, it feels more or less just like a series of random clips and games just designed to show you all of the fun stuff that you may have missed on the show over the years. It has a clip show feel, and that makes us nervous; but then again, this show also specializes in funny random moments, and if there are “clips,” at least they are all of new material.

For example, the sneak peek below features a new challenge for Barney as he is dared to try and pick up a woman wearing only a trash bag, and without having the ability to have the letter “e” at his disposal. This based on the way that he says “challenge accepted” at the end, this is already pretty funny without us even getting too far into it yet.

In case you’re looking for possible theories as to why we are seeing so much in the past, maybe this all reverts back to something that is happening in the present? If not, then just look at it this way: It’s an opportunity to see all of the old sets again. This has been a jarring season without visits to MacLaren’s or some of the other familiar establishments, and it does feel nice to at least have a touch of something reasonably familiar like one of the old apartments. After this wedding happens, after all, we know that there are going to be quite a few changes for the gang, and they may not always hang around in the same places as they once did.

There are only a few more episodes left before the holidays, and the last thing that we have to therefore hope is that there is at least one more Mother-related story before we get to that point. It’s pretty unlikely to happen here.
