ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6 spoilers: How Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion’s characters take on issue of fame

Are Castle and Beckett going strong for now? Sure, but there is an issue between the two of them that an upcoming “Castle” season 6 episode is going to take on that they have not really dealt with much yet: While one of them is a tough, effective detective with the NYPD, the other just so happens to be one of the most-popular mystery authors in America. While they may not feel the impact of that too much during cases (mostly because victims and cops have so many more important things to worry about), a storyline ahead is going to make Beckett open her eyes somewhat to how the other aspect of Rick’s life as an author really works.

This episode that we are talking about is the same one featuring a Miley Cyrus / Lindsay Lohan type of character (read more about the actress playing her here) who is starting to go off of the rails, and somehow in dealing with this Beckett has to start to ask herself tough questions about how she can reconcile Castle’s fame with the sort of person she is. Take a look at the following teaser about it from creator Andrew W. Marlowe to TVLine:

“We’re certainly playing with Beckett being a private person and not really wanting to deal with the engagement announcement [to the media]. But a case comes up with somebody who’s very much in the public eye that gets Beckett to the point where she realizes she’s a private person but she’s in a relationship with somebody who’s a public person – so how does that affect them?”

Beckett was going to have to ask this question eventually, so it is probably a good thing that she is touching on this now, and not a little ways down the road when the two are only days away from walking down the aisle and becoming husband and wife. Castle’s fame means crazed female fans, and not being able to go out publicly in certain places. While an author may not be a movie star with a familiar face, there are still challenges that come with it and Castle has charisma that goes for days.

There are some other issues that the couple will have to get through before then, but come Monday, the issue instead is going to be all about Castle and his daughter Alexis trying to work through their differences.
