ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3, episode 4 preview: Emily VanCamp, ‘Mercy,’ and three shirtless men
Is this “Revenge” season 3, or a new season of “The Bachelor”? For at least a few seconds in this preview for next week’s new episode “Mercy,” you get a feeling that there is a parade of shirtless men all desperate to get a rose from Emily Thorne. You have Aiden, the longtime former love who may still be in the picture, Daniel, the current fiance that she is with under a mostly-false pretense, and also Jack Porter, the man who may still not be all that pleased with her. Will she be marrying any of them this season? She will definitely have a wedding, that much is clear.
But in the middle of this “love rhombus” (as it is hilariously referred to in the promo below), there is really still quite a bit of drama taking place. For more on that, take a look at the full synopsis:
“When Emily’s biggest takedown yet crashes and burns, she must rely on help from an unlikely source to investigate what went wrong. Meanwhile, to protect her own future, Victoria makes a bold move to secure her independence.”
As you can read in our full review for tonight’s “Confession,” it is pretty clear just why Victoria has a reason to fight for her own independence. Conrad was a few short steps away from going to the police, confessing his role in everything, and then being able to start his life over in the twilight years as a man who had a new lease, and possibly a fresh new start. Not only was he so close to that before that tragic car accident (which may or may not have been an accident at all), but Emily was about to get a major weight lifted off of her that she has carried since the beginning of the show.
But nothing within this world is quite this easy, as we have come to learn. Emily has to work at it, and that often includes doing a myriad of things that she may not really be particularly interested in doing. So long as the drama stays high, though, we’re still optimistic that we are continuing on the road that spares us from the awfulness that was season 2.

I for one, really like the show. revenge or not it sure keeps you guessing who is going to fall into Emily’s path. I do wish they had not killed off Jack’s brother. All I can say if you don’t like the show – don’t watch it!

For me, tbh, the whole idea of revenge is a total nonsense -> Emily gathered so many pain, and past in her mind, that is seems she just doesn’t know that she can let go all of it, she can live her life, but in reality she’s stuck, fighting almost against everyone and everything, and I really have no idea what psychologist is able to help her.

Disagree with all you wrote, and you keep writing for convincing yourself of how horrible was season 2. You missed season 2, that’s the real truth, because you stuck on it. So I disagree on all counts! This season is so soapy and nothing less. Emily is annoying; she is like a robot and her quest of revenge becomes more and more ridiculous. I get it she wants revenge not justice. They have to pay, they have to pay, but for what? All the family is suffering but she keeps saying they have to pay. By the way, I don’t care about shirtless men and who she will marry.
