‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: George R.R. Martin on upcoming ‘purple wedding’

First there was the Red Wedding, and now the Purple Wedding is coming up soon; if George R.R. Martin keeps creating wedding events that fans choose to name after colors, sooner or later Billy Idol is going to be pretty pleased.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves here to think if someone could die during a potential “Game of Thrones” White Wedding; instead, let’s talk for a minute about the purple affair that should take place at some point during season 4. We’re of course not going to say anything about this story for those of you who have not read the books yet. However, what we will say is the following message courtesy of Martin via TV Guide:

“It’s going to be the wedding of the year, and as memorable in its own way as our wedding last season. It’s what the fans call the Purple Wedding, based on the color of the wine, which plays a big part.”

But is this really going to be able to equal the level of hype set up by the Red Wedding earlier this year? That is going to be a difficult challenge, especially since we believe that this would have been an Emmy winner had viewers not understandably lost their minds over “Breaking Bad.” Any time that you follow a wedding up with another one, the difficult part of it will be bringing something new to the table, while at the same time keeping the drama level just as high as before.

We have a feeling that ultimately, you are going to be very, very pleased with what you see.
