‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: George R.R. Martin on weddings, drama, and filming
“Game of Thrones” season 4 is currently in production, and when you consider that this HBO hit is composed entirely off of the work of George R.R. Martin, who better is there to go to when it comes to scoop?
Speaking to E! News on the subject of what is going to be taking place next season, Martin explained in general terms (no major spoilers for you neophytes) that one of the biggest things happening within the world of Westeros is the wedding of the century. Think along the lines of the Royal Wedding, but far grittier and with the possibility of terrible things happening (which almost seems to be a tradition for weddings on this show):
“Well, we have another wedding, a bigger wedding. 77 courses and all of the royal kingdom has assembled and it’s supposed to be pretty amazing. We just finished filming it in Croatia. I unfortunately couldn’t attend myself because they have me chained at my desk writing the next book, but from all the reports it was spectacular.”
The joke here from Martin is a pretty interesting one, given that there is more or less a ton of pressure weighing down on him from diehard fans of the series to get another book done. We’re sure that this is a particularly annoying question that he gets all of the time, and the debate over whether or not “Game of Thrones” will be able to continue to film at its current pace is going to depend solely on whether or not there is another book out in time.
