‘American Horror Story: Coven’ spoilers: Can you spot clues in the title sequence?

The latest -Ryan Murphy has been hyping this up for quite some time, and now, the prolific producer has finally displayed it for the world to see: The opening title sequence for “American Horror Story: Coven.” Is it creepy? Definitely, but as any true fan of the franchise would know, there is also certainly so much more to them than just that.

Every year, the goal with creating this sequence for Murphy is to try and hide as many little hints about the season within them as possible. He did the same thing with “Asylum” to great effect, and there are some pretty lovely / freaky morsels thrown in here. What we also personally found to be rather interesting here is just some of the names that are shown off in the opening; there is no Angela Bassett or Patti LuPone, but you do get shout-outs to Emma Roberts and Denis O’Hare. Could this be a tip-off to what characters are around for more episodes? Maybe, but it could also just be Murphy choosing to highlights a “True Blood” alum and a woman who is a rising young star.

The first name mentioned in the sequence here is Sarah Paulson, and then, we have Taissa Farmiga, who is coming back to the show after a year off. The final two are Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange, which is pretty similar to last year, when the Oscar-nominated actors in James Cromwell and two-time winner Lange were saved to the very end.

Overall, it is yet another reason to be excited about the new season, and to ask the following, very-simple question: Is October 9 here yet? After watching this, it is easy to say that we are even more excited than ever before.
