‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 1 preview: How Lily meets the Mother

At this point, you may know that the first person among Ted’s gang that ends up meeting the Mother is Lily, as she spends some time with her aboard the train. However, we’re sure that there is a question that you raised the moment that you saw some footage of these two together from the “How I Met Your Mother” premiere: Wait, isn’t Lily riding with Ted in a car over to Farhampton?

Well as it turns out, Lily has a breaking point when it comes to dealing with Mr. Mosby and his ridiculous behavior. In the video below, you can see her demanding that Ted allow her to get off of his crazy little tour of Long Island and onto a train, mostly because the last thing that she wants to do is sit there in a car while he takes her on some weird little tour of various historical sites from the 1800s. The one thing that we personally don’t get about Ted’s little journey here is why in the world he hasn’t visited some of these places sooner. He’s lived in New York now for years, and it’s not like Long Island is a world away.

So now, we can start to connect the dots. Lily gets on the train somewhat upset because she had to deal with Ted’s nonsense, and then she starts to learn a little bit more about the Mother in the process. Meanwhile, we’ve also learned in this sneak peek that photo of Marshall as a judge (which we saw in another recent sneak peek) is something that Lily doesn’t look at, mostly because she believes it to be some sort of propaganda by Marshall’s mother to keep the two of them from taking off to Italy.

All in all, it looks like we are in for quite a wacky experience when “How I Met Your Mother” premieres on Monday night. We’ll have more sneak peeks this weekend.
