‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: Door open for Cote de Pablo return, says boss
You’ve likely already heard the news that Cote de Pablo was going to be leaving “NCIS” after eight years on the job, but not in a way that would see her character Ziva killed off. There was much rejoicing in regards to this, mostly because it quickly translates to mean that there is at least some fraction of a chance that we could see the character surface again several episodes or seasons down the line.
So when could this “some point” be? While we have no real answer to that, at least we have more confirmation now that Cote’s exit will be done in a way that Ziva can come back in the future in some capacity, and it will all depend both on the actress’ availability coupled with whether or not the story makes it appropriate to bring her back. Just take a look at showrunner Gary Glasberg’s latest quote to XFinityTV for more evidence:
“I am not going to say the door is closed. We have lots of things planned for the future, lots of things planned for this season. So we will have to see where everyone is. I don’t know where the show will be. I don’t know where our cast will be. I don’t know where Cote will be.
“This is a huge shift for us, a big change. It has taken a tremendous amount of work and emotion to get to the place where we are moving on. We are going to see what comes as these episodes unfold.”
When it comes to romance, you already know that there will be some sort of payoff that happens for Tony and Ziva after waiting this long for it; in addition to that, Glasberg says that after Ziva’s exit, we’re probably not going to be seeing Michael Weatherly’s character involved in a romantic story for quite a while. The show is going to take its time to figure out where the story could go next with him, since the last thing that they want to do is infuriate a fan base who has been hoping to see this particular hookup for practically a decade at this point.
“NCIS” season 11 premieres on Tuesday, September 24, and we want to continue to be your source for all things related to the show for some time. Want to read more? We have a new video here that focuses both on de Pablo and Weatherly, along with some other scoop from the season as a whole.

i hate to see Ziva go because she fit so well with the ensemble. We didnt all go postal when Kate was shot and Ziva stepped in. And i think the show will survive this cast change too . but i sure am going to miss her. she was quirky like the other case members. so she was a good fit. i never thought Kate was a good fit. i liked her but i never thought she had the strength of the other characters. i imagine she will end up in a coma, taken captive in some third world country or send her back to Israel. since it has been rumored she is not being killed off.

I agree with NCISfan. Ziva leaving will undoubtedly have an effect on the remaining characters but I look forward to seeing what they do with Tony. It was said that Michael Weatherly is involved in the future development of Tony and where he goes from here. To be honest, although I have nothing against Ziva, I think that Cote leaving gives an opportunity for the writers and the actor to explore the character more. IMO Michael Weatherly is a very good actor and I hope they give him the chance to stretch a bit.

This seems to be “your” take on things. But, in all respect, by twisting Gary Glasburg’s words to give false hope to fans will only serve to rile up the radical faction of “It’s ALL about Cote/Ziva” fans to continue throwing undeserved hate at CBS and the rest of the cast. Mr Glasberg was being as diplomatic and respectful as he could be, but I in no way got any real hope from his words that Ms de Pablo would be back. Which is certainly not to say she won’t, but why give false hope?
Further, I find it extremely presumptive of you to imply that “all” fans would prefer to see Tony pining endlessly away for Ziva for the rest of his wretched life. The fact that most Ziva/Cote would find this acceptable shows just how little they care about any character except Ziva. It’s unfair to Tony, and unfair to Mr Weatherly, who would in effect be punished because his co-star chose to leave. Life goes on. Most fans will move on from this, and realistically so should the show’s fictional characters. JMO.
