‘The Mentalist’ season 6 spoilers: ‘Prison Break’ actor checks in for potentially huge role
Has “The Mentalist” found one of its new series regulars in Rockmond Dunbar? Time will tell, but for the time being the actor is going to be on at least three episodes in a role that could end up becoming much more.
According to Deadline, Dunbar (best known for his parts on “Sons of Anarchy,” “Prison Break,” and “The Game”) has been cast to appear in the seventh, eighth, and ninth episode of the Simon Baker-led CBS series in the role of FBI Supervisory Agent Dennis Abbott, a very tough man who is not only not going to take any nonsense from anyone, but who Patrick Jane is going to have a very difficult time bending to his will. Considering how much that Patrick likes to be in control of the cases that he takes on, this could be problematic for him to have someone over him with such a powerful presence.
As you may have heard already, “The Mentalist” is looking to make some significant changes to their cast after losing a pair of series regulars during this upcoming season, which is also bringing in a major change when it comes to the story. At some point during the first half of the year, the idea is to actually try to tie a big silky bow around the Red John storyline, primarily so that we can see what the future would look like not just for Patrick Jane, but for everyone else without having to deal with the character breathing down their necks. It’s an interesting case of “what happens now,” and it could be fun to explore.
“The Mentalist” premieres with season 6 on Sunday, September 29 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.
