‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: Casting for Cote de Pablo’s successor begins
So who is going to be the next Ziva on “NICS”? We’ll start here, of course, by saying that nobody can replace either the character of Cote de Pablo, and it would be a mistake to even try. But sooner or later, there does have to be a character to fill the void, and this is what CBS is really trying to do now with their casting process.
According to TVLine, producers for the smash hit are looking for someone to play a character named Bishop, who “is bright, educated, athletic, attractive, fresh-faced, focused and somewhat socially awkward. She has a mysterious mixture of analytic brilliance, fierce determination and idealism. She’s traveled extensively, but only feels comfortable at home.” She will not start work until the middle of next month, which means that it will probably be next year before she is around on the show in any sort of regular capacity.
One of the reasons why producers are not looking to cast this role sooner is simply because they don’t want to create a situation where it seems almost like someone is coming in right away to replace Ziva. They know that it will be hard for anyone to do that, and there will inevitably be constant comparisons that are not fair to the new actor.
Ultimately, we’ll give the new character a chance. Who knows? They could be very entertaining, and she seems to be too young to serve as a love interest for any of the other characters on the show at this point. Therefore, she could bring a new dimension to the world, and if you can do that eleven seasons in, it’s probably a good thing.
This has been a busy day for “NCIS” scoop: Earlier, we wrote about a surprising video interview in which Cote talked about being excited to return to the show next year.
