‘American Idol’ notes: New Lee DeWyze and Kris Allen videos

A new Lee DeWyze performance – Now that the August 20 release date for Lee’s sophomore album “Frames” is ever closer, we’re having an opportunity to see some more promotional appearances from him. (Inner brain: Hooray!)

The latest performances that we have for you from the “American Idol” winner comes via AXS TV, where he performed a pair of songs off of the album in “Fight” and “Silver Lining.” You have probably heard some renditions of each song before, but the intimate setting and high-quality video here is especially nice after watching so many tour videos over the past several months leading up to the disc’s release.

As for Kris Allen – This video is really just silly and fun. The season 8 champion took advantage of the opportunity to answer some questions from users about anything and everything, whether it be music or pop culture. What we find especially kind about this video is not only that he did it, but that he chose to do it at a time when he clearly has quite a few other things going on with the birth of his son.

As for everything else going on when it comes to “American Idol,” we’re really still in a holding pattern when it comes to news on season 13. While Keith Urban is confirmed, neither Jennifer Lopez or will.i.am is at this point, despite them being heavily rumored to be on the panel. Our guess is that the show will draw this out, as always, until the last minute before confirming everything right around the time that the auditions actually tape next month. The show is really so predictable at times.
