‘American Idol’ season 13: Who wants Adam Lambert on the judging panel?
Another day goes by, and it’s another day that we have to sit around and wait until the judging panel for “American Idol” season 13 is announced. However, the good news that we do have to report right now is that it is looking more and more like producers behind the show are not going to sit around and hold us hostage this year to find out who the ultimate choice is going to end up being.
In an attempt to once again find out some more answers, we turn to fearless leader Ryan Seacrest … who offers up nothing in the way of concrete facts. However, we’re sure that a number of Adam Lambert fans will love that Neil Patrick Harris openly campaigned for Lambert to be a judge in his interview with the host, and Ryan did not dismiss it as a possibility. Then again, he did not really tip his cap one way or another.
Ryan basically told Neil and consequently all of his listeners that there could be an announcement very soon, and we wonder if that will be this week at Fox’s TCA panel. While that is a little earlier than the past couple of years, it would probably be good for the show to have some sort of established group to start meeting up together rather than hired guns at the last minute who don’t get along.
Right now, the top candidates floating around out there include Jennifer Hudson, Pharrell Williams (who is having a very good summer), possibly a return from Jennifer Lopez, or someone who has not even been discussed. We know that the new production team was interested in assembling another panel full of mega-stars, but there is something very appealing about this all (or at least partial) alumni panel that we hope they consider. We know both Adam and Jennifer well enough to know that they would be honest, entertaining, and also gracious enough to know that this is not the Adam and Jennifer Show.
As per always, we want to hear your thoughts below on this story! If you want to check out some more “American Idol” season 13 rumors and and gossip, you can do so just by clicking here.

AI is struggling and SO many people are saying they don’t watch anymore because of the judges. I also hear the comment that Adam Lambert was “the last really good singer” on the show. So it only makes sense to have Adam be a judge to capture past viewers. I like Keith Urban, too, the only one of last year’s panel who had anything new or intelligent to say. Adam, Keith, Jennifer Hudson, and what about a “seasoned” judge who’s had a long ranging career…Cher, Madonna, Linda Ronstadt, Pat Benetar, Joan Jett?

AGREE ABOUT SEACREST NOT BEING A GLAMBERT…WHEN HAS HE PLAYED ADAM’S MUSIC OR ON HIS OWN SAID ANYTHING FAVORABLE. ADAM IS THE ONLY LOGICAL PICK BUT WHEN HAS MANAGEMENT FOLLOWED LOGIC?

AI became such a mess that I stopped watching. HOWEVER, If Adam Lambert is a judge I will be back!!!!! He will be brilliant. Seriously, why is there even a question? Listen to Neil Patrick Harris!! Hello? How much bigger of a TV star do you need to weigh in on this?????

If Adam is in…I’m in….if he’s not I’ll make sure I’m out the night American Idol is on, so I won’t get sucked into watching the thing and then getting mad cause it’s a loser….just sayin!

If JLo is even being considered it is a bad sign. Everyone know that she was very unfair to Haley Reinhart. JLo was an awful judge. Jennifer Hudson has a career outside of American Idol, but she was not that popular with core viewers that placed her 7th. There is nothing exciting that Hudson will bring to the table. If Adam is not a judge, the show will be toast.

Adam Lambert needs to be an AI judge. He is an amazing artist and performer as well as a fabulous mentor. Adam has tons of experience as he has been singing and performing since he was 10 years old. Adam is very articulate and would really be able to help the contestants unlike AI judges in the past. If Adam is on Idol, I will definitely watch! Please no more divas like JLo and others like her.

They don’t care what we think, as displayed by their previous picks. I think if Adam were a judge I would start watching te show again. However, I would be shocked if they actually picked him.

Ryan Seacrest said recently that the judges panel would have chemistry and it would be a special season. It would make sense to release the names early on so that there would be photo opportunities, interviews etc. to show the chemistry and help build up the momentum for this season. Alas, experience has shown that the powers that be wait until the last moment that is around Sept. to announce. I suspect this year won;t be any different…….Sign………the wait gives people a chance to discuss who they want to see on the panel. I would love to see Adam Lambert as a judge. He is articulate, witty, down to earth, humble, brutally honest and open and knows what it’s like to go through the process. Don’t bring back “I have goosies” J Lo. she is such a phony. She hangs her head down and then brings it up to reveal her crocodile phony tears. Gag….. Adam all the way for this seasons judging panel!!!!!!!!!!!

NPH has been in the entertainment biz a long time including quite a bit of Broadway singing. He knows talent and I agree that Adam Lambert would be the BEST choice. But this was also true last season and producers were aware and chose not to go with him.If they are as deaf to the “citizenry” as Marie Antoinette, “let ’em eat cake!”

Different producers and Exec Producer this time so hopefully they will get it right this time. If not well bye bye AI.

Matt: I’m with you hope the new producers take pity on AI fans and let us know very soon. My pic’s for panel are: Adam Lambert, Pharrell Williams, Kelly Pickler and if a fourth judge either Will.I.Am or John Legend. This way all demographics are covered. But personally I want judges that will give honest and constructive critiques which have been missing for last 3-4 seasons. If they bring back JLo I”ll be shocked. She wants too much money is is way too much of a DIVA. I say no to JH.

These are not bad choices, but I do not think they should have four judges. It makes the show too much about the judges.

I agree that 4 judges is too many. Since the judges tend to be attention whores, half the time they are cut off or not heard from at all. Remember back to Adam Lambert’s season when they had just 2 of the 4 judges make comments after performances and one time where only Simon got to speak and he just stood up.
I hope that AI makes some changes and perhaps does something to make the judges opinion count for something, like taking the bottom 2 and let the judges decide who is going home. All of these reality shows seem to have a similar problem in that the voters seem to not be the same people that support the winners after the show unless they are a “country” artist.
I would LOVE to see Adam in Iovine’s role as a mentor. I would love to see more of him on TV, perhaps not just mentoring the singing but also the staging and clothing. He is a MASTER of how to make any song an exciting PERFORMANCE.

The reason why the viewers do not support the winner is that the “winner” may not always be the choice of the majority. When Kris Allen won it was because unlimited voting allowed 3,000 people to vote 30 million times. Those 3,000 people did not buy 10,000 albums each. The majority who voted for Adam bought more albums than the minority who voted for Kris.
I do not hold out much hope that American Idol will chose Adam as a judge or mentor. The fact that they brought back Keith Urban shows that they are clueless. He is a nice guy but a boring judge.
