‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: ABC wastes no time hyping Kerry Washington’s Emmy nod

ABC is currently winning the race of seeing how quickly you can promote an Emmy nominee on your network. To be fair, it is not often these days that anyone from a network show really gets an opportunity at all to get a little bit of Emmy love, so this may be a cause for a little bit of a greater celebration than what we traditionally see.

In the video below, you can see precisely what the folks behind the scenes at ABC have in store for Kerry Washington: An epic promotional campaign designed to get the word out on “Scandal,” and have people be incredibly excited every single step of the way for some of her achievements.

As for whether or not Kerry has much of a shot at winning the award itself, we’re looking at a little bit of a long-shot here. Claire Danes is the favorite by a mile for a repeat win for “Homeland,” though thanks to the egregious snub of Tatiana Maslany of “Orphan Black,” Kerry may have a little bit more of a shot than she would have otherwise had. She can at least tout being extremely popular with mainstream viewers, and she stars on a show that is well-liked by most critics along with an enormous group of fans.

We’ll keep a close watch on this situation as it evolves; meanwhile, “Scandal” season 3 will debut on Thursday, October 3 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.
