‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Fifth Harmony, Demi Lovato, Simon Cowell, and more

The X Factor LogoThis edition of “The X Factor” USA notes is all about videos. We have an official music video, and unofficial look at a performance in Boston, and also the latest promotional clip from season 3 of the show, which launches with a two-night premiere on Wednesday, September 11.

Let’s begin with a quick look at Demi Lovato’s brand-new video for “Made in the USA.” Rather than being something so conceptual a la what we saw with “Heart Attack,” this video seems to be a little bit more traditional and even at times quintessential to the red, white, and blue. There is a love letter to the military penned in the second act, and almost everything in here, from the Ferris wheel to the muscle cars, seems almost perfectly emblematic of what so many people love about America.

Fifth Harmony’s Boston performance – As they gear up for their big performance on “The Today Show” this week, the girl group from this past season hit up Boston in order to try and “Harmonize America” with a small concert, which also served as an opportunity for some people to see Simon Cowell’s famous ladies up close and personal. This seems like the perfect venue for Fifth Harmony when it comes to a promotional tour, since it is appealing to their young teen audience who loves to go out in the summer, and the mall is a favorite destination. The latest promo – Is Simon Cowell really “dreaming”? Well, not exactly, but that is still the title of a pretty hilarious new video featuring the show’s judge watching a season 3 contestant audition with a terrible rendition of a Britney Spears song. The guy is really just a day too late.
