‘Nashville’ season 2 spoilers: Two new faces enter the fold

When “Nashville” comes on the air this fall, the challenges will be apparent almost from the get-go. How do you one-up a season that was already popular among many, and how do you manage to tell a completely different story? If you were to use a sort of music analogy, it is almost like releasing your debut album, which you’ve spent your whole life trying to make; and now, you have to come up with twelve new songs (or a multitude of new episodes) in a lot less time.

Luckily, we now know what one of the producers’ current secrets is: Introducing new characters! According to a report from TVLine, the following new faces are set to enter the fold on the show this coming year:

1. Zoey, a childhood friend of Scarlett who is (shocker!) going to be a waitress at The Bluebird. Somebody’s gotta work there, right?

2. Layla, a character who is going to be extremely ambitious, but has some darkness laying underneath the surface thanks to a certain impression that she is trying to project on most of America. She is also a winner of an “American Idol”-type singing competition, which means that she has already had an opportunity to woo some viewers with the image that she has worked hard to sell. Sadly, there is no word yet on when the second season of “Nashville” will premiere. This is the last major television network to announce their premiere dates, but we will see them within the weeks ahead.
