‘Today Show’: Miss Utah Marissa Powell gets re-do after bombing pageant question

Remember what we had to say about Miss Utah Marissa Powell staying quiet about her now-infamous Miss USA pageant question flub, largely so that she could speak out about it on “The Today Show” a little later in the week? Well … we’ll let the video below work as a means of tooting our own horn.

While chatting with Matt Lauer Tuesday, Powell basically put into words exactly what was reported following the NBC telecast about her failing to answer a question (save for incoherent rambling) about women earning less in the workplace: She was overly excited about being in the moment, got lost within the question, and lost her train of thought rather than trying to provide some sort of real answer to the question.

While we wonder how Powell is processing the fact that she will probably be synonymous with this one moment for basically the rest of her life, we also wonder to an extent how reigning Miss USA Erin Brady feels. She just won this competition a couple of days ago, and what she did right is being completely upstaged by something that one of her fellow contestants did wrong. She is trying her best to be a pretty good sport about it, but at the same time we wonder if it is really something that is that easy to do given the work that she put into this.
