NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Adam Levine forced to issue full statement on America comments

Adam LevineWe still don’t really understand why Adam Levine was forced to issue some sort of formal explanation on this, but he gave it anyway. Somehow, a comment made in jest that he “hates this country” on “The Voice,” after two of his artists in Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons failed to get the votes necessary to advance, turned into news outlets calling on him to explain himself or labeling him somehow as anti-American. Was it the proximity of the comments so close to Memorial Day that set people off? Maybe, but we personally equate what he said to someone saying “I hate you guys” to a team in kickball that didn’t pick him … it’s not big deal, and said out of frustration.

So after already trying to make himself clear in a series of Twitter posts, Adam, for those of you who did not figure it out already, explained the context of his comment yet again in a statement just how he feels about the country:

“I obviously love my country very much and my comments last night were made purely out of frustration … Being a part of ‘The Voice,’ I am passionately invested in my team and want to see my artists succeed. Last night’s elimination of Judith [Hill] and Sarah [Simmons] was confusing and downright emotional for me and my comments were made based on my personal dissatisfaction with the results. I am very connected to my artists and know they have long careers ahead, regardless of their outcome on the show.”

To be frank, it’s rather ridiculous that Adam had to even take it to this level just so that the people that took his comment to an outrageous place would leave him alone, and we’re sure that some of them will not let it go anyway. Was this statement brought on by the show itself? Maybe. “The Voice” clearly has a large contingency of patriotic viewers, including many who likely voted to keep some of the other artists while sending his home.

Adam’s only contestant remaining his Amber Carrington, so here’s to hoping that he suddenly starts to “love” America next week. (If all of his artists go home, we will certainly be losing some great entertainment.)
