We are starting to wonder what the job requirements are when trying to land a job on “American Horror Story: Coven.” Do you have an award or a nomination to your name? We’re starting to think that this must be somewhere on the application. After all, Oscar-winning actresses Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates are two of the integral players on the show this time around, and we learned recently that Oscar-nominee Gabourey Sidibe (“Precious”) was joining them for some sort of undisclosed role.
Now, we know that executive producer Ryan Murphy has managed to convince two other famous females to jump on board, though their roles, like with Sidibe, are shrouded somewhat in mystery for the time being. Just look at what he posted recently on his Twitter account:
“Two legends are joining the cast of American Horror Story: Coven — Oscar nominee Angela Bassett and Tony winner Patti LuPone!”
Our basic assumption? That they are going to be playing witches (go figure). Of course, the odds are very much in our favor that we are wrong based on how little information is out there. They could be playing witch hunters, Christian ladies babbling about witches, or some other bizarre twist that Murphy throws into this season, like the aliens that randomly showed up for Kit Walker. (Yeah, last season had way too much going on.)
This “Coven” season will begin filming over the course of the next several weeks across numerous locations, including of course New Orleans. We’re excited to see how this translates to the small screen, and also from the standpoint of how hungry it makes us given that there is a certain level of Cajun food fanaticism on this end.
There may not be much out there on “American Horror Story” right now, but we’re your source for any and all news, including Gabourey’s hopes that Murphy does not quickly kill off her character.
