‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Deb falls apart in new teaser

For those of you eagerly hunting down some new “Dexter” season 8 footage, the new teaser courtesy of Showtime really gives you quite a bit to be excited about. We have our first substantial look at Charlotte Rampling as Evelyn, the expert in psychopaths who has some interesting information about Dexter Morgan’s past, and we also have an increased amount of evidence in that Deb is going to be completely and totally losing her mind.

Following the end of last season, we learned something very harrowing about Jennifer Carpenter’s character: She is capable of murder, even if it is for an entirely different sort of reason than what we have seen from Dexter over the years. She killed to protect him, but her life is never going to be the same as a result. Thanks to it, there are really only two different ways she can go:

1. She can retreat, avoid Dexter at all costs, and try to find some sort of life for herself again. We don’t particularly know if this is something she will be able to do, but it certainly dosen’t hurt to try.

2. She can actually continue the habit in some way, given that people who kill certainly have the capacity within them to kill again. We don’t necessarily know if we see her becoming a serial killer, but she could be much more ruthless when it comes to her job.

The teaser also includes a few seconds of the new series “Ray Donovan,” just for those of you who are also excited to see that show premiere after “Dexter” on Sunday, June 30.
