‘Dexter’ season 8: Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter star in creepy new teasers

Dexter and Debra MorganWith the season 8 premiere of “Dexter” just over two months away, Showtime is still going all-out to ensure that the final chapter of their famed serial killer is as heavily-promoted as possible, complete with everything from new footage to returning guest stars (Yvonne Strahovski) to promises of a compelling end to the story.

The two latest teasers revealed by Showtime (which were first posted on Vulture) do not accomplish much when it comes to showing off new footage from the show. However, they do provide an even greater insight into just where the characters were at the start of the series, and who they have become now. The first video is of Michael C. Hall’s Dexter, explaining that he has slowly and surely started to see the mask that he wears slip away.

Meanwhile, the teaser focusing on Jennifer Carpenter’s Deb (still with Hall’s narration) shows her going from being a cop, completely innocent and unaware as to Dexter’s true nature, slowly turning into a jaded, beaten-down police lieutenant with some significant blood on her hands. Dexter worries as to whether or not he’s created a murderer in his sister, or someone who is simply going to crumble underneath all of the pressure that he has put on her. (Harry warned him to never let her find out for a reason.)

What do you think about these teasers, and do you appreciate how the show is looking at its past in order to frame the rest of its story?
