‘The Good Wife’ season 4, episode 21 preview: What is Peter doing?
As we near the end of “The Good Wife” season 4, one thing is becoming abundantly clear: Peter is willing to do just about anything in his power in order to ensure that he can win the election … including toy around with Alicia’s life a little bit more than he already has. Next week marks the penultimate episode of the spring, and despite the title of “A More Perfect Union,” we have a feeling that the story could not be any more flawed.
So what sparks the decision by Peter to ask Alicia to renew their vows? It really seems to be simply based around his desire to make sure that the declining numbers in the gubernatorial race turn upside down; he clearly realizes that she connects with voters, and he wants to make sure that he has that sort of boost at his side. (Oh, and he also says that he loves her.)
In case you have not seen the official synopsis for this episode just yet, it goes as follows:
“Alicia represents a group of software coders in a contract dispute as a favor to her mother, but the case causes unexpected consequences to the firm. Meanwhile, Peter asks Alicia to renew their vows and Kalinda plays two sides of the firm against each other.”
We don’t know what is going to happen during this installment yet, but whatever it is should be expected to carry over in a pretty big way to the upcoming season finale later this month. As for why the show is ending in April, blame “The Amazing Race” and “Survivor” having two-hour finales in May.

I don’t agree with you on your comments like “Peter is willing to do just about anything in his power in order to ensure that he can win the election”.In fact, Peter was not realy prone to run the election, it is Alicia who came over to Peter’s office and convinced Peter to run, saying “Run,Peter. You will be a good governor”(season3,episode20), and she promised to offer fully support to Peter. Margulies(Alicia) has ever said in an interview with the press:”She’s all of a sudden one of the most important people at the law firm because everyone wants the State’s Attorney’s wife — perhaps governor’s wife — to be part of their case, it’s sympathetic with judges,” “And it opens doors for her … that she didn’t realize she wanted to open for her that way.” Alicia is very ambitous, she loves power and prestige, Being state’s attorney’ wife or future governor’s wife can realy futher advance her career. She wants Peter to run for it and win, no doubt about it.
I also totally disagree on your opinion like”… including toy around with Alicia’s life a little bit more than he already has. ” Peter realy love Alicia, he told his kids “I fall in love with your mother agian.” Alicia also told Grace she loves their father(season 4,episode 18). The diamond ring is just the reaffirmation of Peter’s love to Alicia. I think it is Will who has been fooling around with Alicia, he slept with Alicia for more than half year (Season 2), and never proposed a marriage to Alicia,
actuall, he never even seriouly said anything like”I love you” to Alicia” except overdoing sex with her, he enjoyed lots of fun and great sex with Alicia, but none oblibation and commitent.
How do you define “love” If you still call Alicia/Will relation “love”?
