TNT’s ‘Dallas’ season 2 finale spoilers: Patrick Duffy on surprises with J.R.’s plan
In just a matter of hours now, TNT is going to be tying a bow around their second season of “Dallas,” and there is no question that they have quite a challenge ahead for them in doing so. This is a show that is so beloved by so many people, and this time around, it is more important than ever to try and tie up the story regarding J.R. Ewing’s death neatly. He’s not coming back, and viewers need some sort of resolution in order to move forward.
So what can we expect when it comes to the conclusion of J.R.’s “masterpiece”? Bobby has been very involved with this ever since the funeral episode, and Patrick Duffy teased some of what we can expect when it comes to this story to “Access Hollywood“:
“Well, what I can hint at is it is so ‘guilty party paying for their deeds.’ It is a remarkable resolution to that, which is the ‘master plan.’ So the end of the show turns out exactly the way [J.R.] planned it in this master plan, but it’s a resolution that I don’t think a single audience member will say, ‘Oh, I knew that was gonna be it!’ Nobody’s is gonna know and everybody’s gonna be surprised as to who shot him.”
Duffy also promised that while we will see the J.R. storyline come to an end, it is far from the only thing that happens in the episode. The ramifications of this story ending will in some ways set off a domino effect for some of the other characters, and the cogs will be put in motion for the show’s upcoming third season.
