‘Veep’ season 2 promotion: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Joe Biden spend time together
Is there any better publicity for a show about a fictional Vice-President of the United States than meeting the person who actually holds the position? If there is, we sure can’t think of it.
In preparation for the season 2 launch of “Veep” on Sunday, series star Julia Louis-Dreyfus had the opportunity to actually sit down with Joe Biden at the White House for lunch; but in the process of doing so, she also had a little bit of fun with him. First and foremost, the Vice-President’s office shared the photo attached here of the Emmy-winning actress basically stealing his seat; and in addition to that, there is also a Soundcloud below of her explaining that she tried to help Biden out with key diplomacy decisions.
It’s a good thing that Biden has a pretty good sense of humor, mostly because “Veep” is a pretty biting satire of the world of Washington. Louis-Dreyfus’ character of Selina Meyer is in particularly scathing: she is foul-mouthed, unsympathetic, selfish, and often treats her employees like dirt. Her only real redeeming quality as a character is that she is constantly ambitious, and there is something thoroughly entertaining about seeing how she manages to get herself constantly out of terrible situations.
Last seas, “Veep” really started to hit its stride as it neared the final episodes of what was a very short season of just eight half-hours total. Let’s hope that this time around, they will be able to get things going with positive momentum straight from the very beginning.
