‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: First look at ‘Something Old’

“How I Met Your Mother” may or not give us Barney and Robin’s wedding by the end of this season, but we are at least going to see some last-minute planning for the big occasion … including Robin’s desperate attempts to find something that she apparently set aside for this big day in case it ever happened.

The first part of this hour-long finale airing on May 6 is entitled “Something Old,” and based on the official description just released by CBS, this may actually not be the biggest surprise of all here. Rather, it is the end results of a certain “Romeward Bound” episode airing on Monday night. (Warning: major spoilers ahead.)

“Robin is desperate to find her “something old” she buried in Central Park years earlier for the wedding. Meanwhile, Marshall and Lily ask for Ted’s help packing for Italy, and Barney bonds with Robin, Sr.”

So based on the Marshall and Lily storyline for the episode, it does look like Alyson Hannigan’s character is going to end up taking the offer to say farewell to New York and “hello” to Rome for a year as the Captain’s art dealer. However, you also have to remember that there is still TV left to go, and time for the two characters to change their minds. After all, can we really have an entire ninth season with two of of our five primary cast members situated in another country? We’re about to find out…
