Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon have fun at expense at ‘Tonight Show’ rumors
Let’s start this article with the obvious: we still don’t know for sure what is going to happen when it comes to the future of “The Tonight Show.” While the current rumors out there suggest that Jimmy Fallon is going to take over the show from Jay Leno at the end of the latter’s contract in the fall of 2014, there is no confirmation on anything. Plus, we have a feeling that this is the last thing the network would want right now. Leno’s ratings are up since the rumors started, and since he started to roast his employer in NBC in routine fashion during some of his opening monologues.
However, what Leno is proving now is that both he and Fallon want their relationship, no matter what happens, to be a better one that what happened between Leno and either David Letterman or Conan O’Brien. At the start of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” Monday night, the two NBC hosts took part in a skit that more or less poked fun at all of the gossip surrounding the two of them.
Set to a classic tune from “West Side Story,” the two sang along together and wondered just what is going to happen for each of them moving forward. Would Fallon becoming the “Tonight Show” host? Would Leno go to Fox, or try to take Letterman’s job again? While we can’t say that the video was necessarily hilarious, it is definitely worth watching just from the standpoint alone of seeing the two men have a united front against all of the speculation.
