‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: A progress report; Nina Dobrev news

We have a couple of small stories related to “The Vampire Diaries” to help you get through this case of the Mondays, and it only seems appropriate right now to kick things off with the latest update as to what is going on behind the scenes courtesy of executive producer Julie Plec.

So how far along is the show in the season 4 filming process? Let’s just say that today, Plec is going to help write the show’s season finale, which will air on Thursday, May 16. She’s also editing the next two episodes of the show, including the backdoor pilot for “The Originals” that will be airing on April 20. Overall, it looks like the next few weeks for her are going to be absolutely insane, as she is also working on a new pilot called “The Tomorrow People” that is not getting as much attention as her Joseph Morgan-led series.

In other news … Nina Dobrev, as you may have heard, spent the weekend in her hometown of Toronto, and she also spent a little bit of time with a young woman named Kayla Baker who has had quite a difficult journey the past couple of years in an effort to get a lung transplant. You can read more about her story here, as it will probably make you tear up a little bit.

On Sunday, Dobrev posted a picture of herself meeting Baker, who is reportedly a big fan of the show. This was certainly not something that the actress had to do, and thus it was incredibly nice of her to take the time out of a very busy shooting schedule in order to make this happen while spending time with family over the course of the Easter holiday.
