David Letterman torments Brian Williams on Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, and NBC woes
And to think, David Letterman and Brian Williams are pretty good friends in real life. Imagine what would’ve happened on “The Late Show” last night if Dave was speaking with one of his enemies.
Over the years, Letterman has developed a talent for trolling people on his own show, whether it be by commenting on their appearance, their personal life, or anything in the headlines that he can sink his teeth into. In his interview with the NBC Nightly News anchor, he certainly has plenty of material courtesy of everything that has been going on at Brian’s network for the past few months.
Letterman came up with what is ultimately a pretty hilarious conspiracy theory: in order to get everyone’s minds off of the fact that Matt Lauer is suddenly one of the most despised men in the business over what happened with Ann Curry on “The Today Show,” the stories came out at the same time over the state of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” You know that there is a part of Dave, especially considering his history, that loves it ever time Leno has negative headlines around him, and the word there is that Jimmy Fallon will replace him as the host for the show at some point next year.
The best part of this whole ordeal? Watching Williams squirm while Letterman goes through all of this, and then is told to “blink twice” if he is telling the truth about any of this. Brian doesn’t blind … and there you have it.
Do you think Brian handled this in really the only way that he could have, all things considered? If you want to read how Leno and even Conan O’Brien are handling the situation this week, you can do so over at the link here.
