‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 4 spoilers: Executive producer on the Alison dilemma
Now that it has been almost a full 24 hours since the finale of “Pretty Little Liars” season 3 aired, it’s possible that there has been some time in there to pick up your jaw a little bit off the floor. While (spoiler alert!) there were plenty of fans who suspected that Alison DiLaurentis could still be alive, who thought the reveal would come as she (as the infamous “Red Coat”) ended up saving Hanna, Spencer, Aria, and Emily from the fire? It’s still not clear just what her motivations are, or whether or not it was really her to begin with rather than some elaborate trick being played on the characters in their heads.
Sadly, you’re not getting anything else when it comes to answers from the show’s executive producer. Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Oliver Goldstick was pretty noncommittal on whatever it was that the Liars ended up seeing, and talked more about how the move to include Alison here was to help to take a closer look at what some viewers out there were thinking about already:
“It will still be up in the air. We knew we threw something at the audience. We called it the ‘Is She or Isn’t She’ episode, because we threw something at audience that we felt like a lot of the audience suspected was happening already and whether to confirm their suspicions or at least throw some spin on it, we wanted to bring the girls up to speed with where the audience was. The audience was suspecting that Alison was alive; we certainly wanted the girls to come into the fourth season with the same theory.”
What do you think: is this really Alison DiLaurentis that we are looking at here, and what do you want to see happen moving forward? If you want to read what are some of our biggest question marks for “Pretty Little Liars” season 4, you can do so over at the link here.
