‘Veep’ season 2 trailer: The VP stands for ‘very precious’
If you’re like us, you’re still mourning the loss of another HBO comedy in “Enlightened,” and you may also be aware of the fact that the ratings for “Girls” dropped off at the end of season 2. While the network may not care about live viewing as much as some others, they still need the numbers overall to be strong. With this in mind, we feel almost more of a responsibility to promote a great show in “Veep” than we have before.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus will be back on the network next month for more adventures as Vice-President Selina Meyer, and the new trailer below shows off much more of the story for the year than anything else released thus far. There is plenty of swearing, Gary Cole looking and acting more powerful than Selina despite being a lower rank, and Gary being idolized and ridiculed in a ridiculously short amount of time.
But is anyone within this office actually appealing this time around? The answer here still has to be “no,” and this is what makes the show as a whole so fascinating to watch. It happens to be brilliant despite not having someone you can really root for, as Selina is at times a manipulative bully of a veep who presents a false image to America, and most of her staff is, while at times good-intentioned, also self-serving and willing to do whatever it takes to rise to the top. This is Washington satire on the same levels as “The Daily Show,” but with a story rather than news. It’s what “1600 Penn” can only dream about.
Overall, what’s your take on the new “Veep” trailer? If you want to see some more ways Selina will get involved with the American people this time around, be sure to head on over to the link here.
