‘Pretty Little Liars’ finale review: Who is Red Coat, and did you expect [spoiler]?
We knew that the “Pretty Little Liars” finale airing on Tuesday night was going to be shocking … but who knew it was going to end quite like this? There were so many shockers from the episode that rather than trying to talk about all of them at once, we are instead going to break them down one by one.
Aria and Ezra are …. Over. Sorry, Ezria fans. It’s just not happening for the time being. Aria realized that things were just not working for the two of them, and she told her boyfriend that he needs to take the substitute job at Rosewood High in order to take care of his new family.
Is there a chance that these two get back together? There’s always a chance, but it’s not looking good for a while.
The new team – Who knew that Shana, Jenna, and Melissa were all working together with their own devious plot? They’re not the “A Team,” but they are clearly up to something. This, however, feels more like a season 4 story for now.
Finally, Red Coat revealed – Spencer, thankfully, was merely pretending to join Mona’s band of misfits in an effort to find out more information, and through this she ended up learning that Toby was not only alive, but he was working on the inside to protect her. Or was he? There were questions about this almost for the entire episode, with at one point us being ready to proclaim that Toby was the most horrible person alive.
The Liars ended up trying to trick Mona, but they were ultimately tricked herself by the real villain at the center of everything: Red Coat, otherwise known as Alison DiLaurentis. Was it really her? We don’t know that just yet (since there was that whole twin storyline in the books), but she seemed willing to blame Toby for the fire.
The cliffhanger – In case you didn’t remember the police car in the lake, this was the final moment of the episode: the car was unearthed, and this tied together Shana, Jenna, and Wilden to an extent. But what is in that trunk? That is where theories come into play.

Ok there is definitely a body in wildens trunk, I think Wilden has something to do with that body bc he was harassing Hanna for the car. It’s not Alisons body lol honestly A could’ve payed someone to make up her DNA to pretend she’s dead Alison is so capable of that. Remember she told Byron she was capable of anything? But sometimesi get confused about Ali walking around in a bright red coat maybe is two of them. Perhaps Cece is helping her to who knows.
Cece was visiting mona at Radley??? And Alison never told the girls about Cece, perhaps she had all this planned

Sometimes I doubt on that Courtney twin theory but then again it can be. The reason why I say that it’s bc that hand coming out of the gazebo doesn’t explain the twin theory bc if Courtney is dead then why was Alison also buried???????

i think both twins are alive. Once of them is red coat, and she is the one trying to help the girls. The other one is teamed up with shana, Melissa and Jenna to hurt the girls and seek revenge.

Remember there is a body that has been confirmed to be Ali’s and if the body in the back of the car is Ali’s it’ll be so disintegrated at this point that they wouldn’t be able to recognize it, I mean come on she’d be dead for 2 years + and underwater in the trunk of the car for some time….no way they’d recognize that body.

SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN’T READ FINAL BOOK
If they go the twins route I think that end scene was Courtney being saved by someone after Ali tried to kill her. Ali then winds up dead (maybe by the real A team (the tv shows Jenna-Melissa-Shay, etc), and they are trying to cover it up and also get revenge on the girls, and will use people to do that. I think it has to be different from the books b/c the hallucination/real time “Ali” the girls see is so kind and sweet, remember in the books Courtney wants to be nice to them and be her “real self” but she has to keep pretending to be Ali so she acts mean. This “Ali” seems to save the girls whenever she can, even while covering her tracks with Mona/Toby. I don’t think Ali would start a fire just to save the girls. Remember Mona said, “you don’t even know whats going on here” before the fire started it seemed like it may not have been antagonistic, maybe Ali was going to reveal herself. I think Jenna-Melissa-Shay hit Toby, and started the fire and pinned it on him.

First of all, everyone saying that it’s Ali’s twin in the books is WRONG. Hate to spoil it, but in the books the Ali that Aria, Emily, Spencer, and Hannah knew was really Courtney, the twin. Courtney is who really got killed while pretending to be Alison. (Extra Spoiler- do not read unless you’ve read the most recent book- Courtney was killed by real Ali) And Ali was still alive and then pretended to be Courtney while seeking revenge on the girls.
Second of all, I think what was in the trunk was Ali’s dead body that was dug up, especially since at the beginning of this season Emily, who was found at the scene, was known to have seen Jenna that night.
