‘The X Factor’ notes: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Tate Stevens, Emblem3, Demi Lovato

Carly Rose SonenclairWe’ve got a ton of “X Factor” stories to cover here in the span of a single article, so we’re not going to waste any time here at all. Let’s just dive right in!

Carly Rose Sonenclar’s new performance – Carly recently made an appearance at a corporate event hosted by Gannett, which is the parent company whose holdings include USA Today, The Arizona Republic, The Tennessean, and many other large newspapers around the country. There have not been too many opportunities for Carly to perform in between school work and hitting the studio, but she played a two song set here consisting of “Rolling in the Deep” along with her famous audition song from this past season in “Feeling Good.”

Tate StevensTate’s new cover – Check out the official album for Tate Stevens’ self-titled release, which will be in stores on April 23. In case you’re curious, this is a slightly modified version of the cover that Tate released for his debut radio single “Power of a Love Song,” and it is basically the country artist appealing to his genre’s audience. It may not stand out much when compared to other album covers, but it’s not really intended to.

Check out the official track list for the album below. with the ones marked with a * being ones that Tate co-wrote.

1. I Got This*

2. Can’t Get Nothin’ Done*

3. Ride It Out*

4. Power of a Love Song

5. Sweet

6. That’s Where We Live

7. El Camino

8. That’s How You Get the Girl

9. Ordinary Angels

10. The Last Thing I Do (a  cover of a Brooks & Dunn track)

11. Holler If You’re with Me (the song featured in the Pepsi commercial)

What’s a little bit interesting about the tracks listed here is that Sony Nashville decided to line up all of his co-writes at the very start of the album, possibly as a way to make sure that his voice as an artist (and not just his exceptional singing voice) is identified.

Simon Cowell interview – There are a couple of interesting things worth noting from Simon’s recent interview with his old friend Ryan Seacrest on his radio show:

1. Demi Lovato is practically a lock to return to the show for season 3, pending that she wants to.

2. Simon has plenty of confidence in Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony, and specifically claims that the former group’s lead single is a “smash.”
