‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 3, episode 22 review: Troian Bellisario’s best work yet
There was little to no doubt that this episode was officially rock bottom for the character, and Troian Bellisario completely dominated this episode with a fantastic performance as she pretended at first to be a Jane Doe, and then became quickly determined to get away from all of the demons that have been haunting her over the past several years. One of them included Mona, who used her past connections to Radley to get on the inside, tell Spencer that Alison was not really pregnant, and then claim that neither one of them was crazy.
Bellisario sealed the deal for herself this episode with a brilliant monologue in the closing seconds, where she did start to realize that she was actually losing her mind, and that she did not quite know just what she was going to do about it. After “seeing” the Liars in front of them when they were not there, she quickly realized that she may have done the same exactly thing with Toby; and judging what we saw from the very end of the episode, she may be very much alive.
Some of the other storylines were not as monumental, but still important. After all, it seems as though Ezra is closer than ever to getting back to his old profession, and Byron actually helped to make this happen to potentially drive a wedge between the teacher and his daughter. Meanwhile, Emily spent some time with Missy Franklin (while learning something new about Shana), and Hanna tried her best to convince her mother to take a promotion in New York City, where presumably they could get away from the likes of Detective Wilden.
