‘Fringe’ alum Seth Gabel books ABC pilot; what does this mean for ‘Arrow’s’ Count?
What is great news for Seth Gabel is not necessarily great news for “Arrow,” at least if the show was hoping to bring back his villainous character of the Count for some more episodes down the line.
With that in mind, we present you with the following bit of news. According to a new report from Deadline, the actor (who is still largely best known for his work on “Fringe”) has signed up for the ABC pilot “Gothica,” which is set in a word that brings suck characters of Dracula and Frankenstein’s Monster together in a way that reminds us very much of “Once Upon a Time.” Gabel’s character is named Roderick Usher, a district attorney who has some connections to a very noteworthy and very powerful family.
If Gabel’s pilot (which also stars Tom Ellis, who was at one point rumored to be joining “Downton Abbey” as a love interest for Michelle Dockery’s character of Mary) ends up getting picked up, it certainly means that he will have far less time to come over as the Count, though it does not completely negate the possibility. This would be an interesting spring, though, when it comes to some of the drama’s noteworthy villains: Jessica de Gouw (otherwise known as The Huntress) has signed on for a role in a show strictly about Dracula over on NBC (oh, the irony), and it has a commitment already from the network.
We’ll likely learn more about the future for “Gothika” before the ABC upfront presentation in May; as for Gabel’s Count, there is no word as to whether he will be reprising his role or not later on this season.
