TNT’s ‘Dallas’ season 2 spoilers: First look at J.R. Ewing’s funeral
Get ready to bust out your hankies, “Dallas” fans: you are about to be in for a very bumpy ride. On next week’s edition of the TNT drama series, we will officially be saying goodbye to someone who has become one of the most nefarious villains in TV history. Not only that, but we will be doing so with a bang.
First of all, you have to give the producers behind the show here some serious credit for being brave when it comes to handling the death of J.R. Ewing. It would have been very easy for them to create a teary goodbye that was a tribute to the sort of man that Larry Hagman was in real life, and not the famous character that he played on TV. However, they instead went in a different direction and decided to shape the funeral into something that is befitting the Ewing character. While we do not want to speak for the deceased, we have a feeling that this is what Hagman would have wanted. He knew that he was fighting cancer in the final few months of his life, and we imagine that there probably were some discussions between him and the people behind the scenes at the show as to how to handle his character.
The promo below promises that there will not only be drama, fighting, and plenty of mystery surrounding J.R.’s death (for real this time), but that there are also going to be a number of returning faces from the original franchise who come back to give one final “tribute” to the character that they spent so many years fighting.
Do you think that “Dallas” is handling the funeral for J.R. the right way? If you want to make sure you catch up on the show, good news: TNT is going to stream all season 2 episodes online leading up to next week.
