‘The Following,’ ‘New Girl,’ ‘The Mindy Project,’ ‘Raising Hope’ renewed by Fox
For is giving many of their popular series a rather nice gift on Monday: not having to wait for a ridiculously long time in order to learn as to whether or not they will be renewed for another season.
Fox officially confirmed that three of their comedy series, in “Raising Hope,” “The Mindy Project,” and “New Girl” would all be back for another season after they all fared at least reasonably well in the ratings. While all of their performances would have been weak for another network like CBS, “New Girl” remains especially popular with young people and is one of the most-recorded comedy shows on TV.
In addition to that, the network also confirmed that following its own ratings success (which has made it the strongest new show of 2013 thus far), “The Following” will also be back for another season. The only wrinkle here is that in order to accommodate the busy schedule of its star Kevin Bacon, the series is receiving a shortened order of 15 episodes just as it had during season 1. In a statement, here is what the network programming head in Kevin Reilly had to say specifically about bringing this show back:
“From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding. Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I’m delighted to have this thrill ride continue for another season.”
Overall, are you happy to hear this news, and which one of these shows are you the most excited to see back again on TV soon? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts below, and you can read what is next on “New Girl” season 2 by heading on over to the link here.
