‘Veep’ season 2 spoilers: Selina to become more involved (video)

While “Veep” was a delightful little show on HBO during its first year, there were some strange little quirks with the show … including the fact that the only real connection that we ever saw between Selina Meyer and the President came through Jonah. That’s going to change for the show’s second season, even if we still thankfully are never going to meet the actually POTUS in the flesh.

As you can see in the behind-the-scenes clip below from the new season starting up on April 14, Julia Louis-Dreyfus character is going to be taking a much more active role in the world of politics in the coming season. She will be taking advantage of some opportunities to meet real power players in the political world (including some other world leaders), but she will be spending time with some other members of the President’s staff, including one played by Gary Cole that becomes a major thorn in her side.

On the personal front, we are also set to find out a little bit more about both Selina and some of the members of her staff, including Amy’s family and the love interests of a few other employees. We will also be learning about Selina’s own ex-husband, which is welcome considering just how absent a player he was throughout season 1, even as she attempted to have some extremely uncomfortable bonding time with her daughter while at a political event.
