‘Girls’ season 2, episode 8 preview: Adam acts … polite?

We never thought we would say this during some of the earlier episodes of “Girls,” but Adam has somehow managed to become our favorite character and in many ways everyone’s favorite “weird guy” on TV. He’s delightfully unpredictable, caring, protective, but also somehow a jerk at the same time. Take for instance the fact that he traveled all the way out to Staten Island with Ray to return a dog that he stole, but then ditched him as soon as questions came up regarding Hannah’s attitude.

Unfortunately, Lena Dunham’s character is not present at all in the clip below for Sunday night’s new episode; instead, what we have is a video featuring a very creepy mother trying to convince Adam to call her daughter and ask for a date. Typically, a mom having to do this for her kid is never a good sign that the daughter is very attractive or even likable; then again, Adam has not exactly been very lucky with the ladies away from Hannah over the past several years.

So what is the over / under that Adam actually calls this girl? We don’t know, but we have to say that we are rather impressed by the simple fact that he was able to grin and bear it while this lady he does not even know suggested such a thing. It’s a real testament to the idea that Adam really does know how to function in some social situations, and it is possible for him to not be the strangest person in the room.
