‘Pretty Little Liars’ review: Is Keegan Allen’s Toby really [spoiler] … and why?
There were all sorts of things that we expected to happen during Tuesday night’s “Pretty Little Liars” episode, but the death of a certain character is what we never saw coming in a million years. (Warning: there are massive spoilers ahead, so you have been warned now.)
It was just over halfway through this episode that it was first revealed that Toby Cavanaugh had been killed by Mona and “The A Team,” and it was done as a way to punish Spencer in a way for informing the Liars about who he really was. So why kill the guy? Our guess is that “A” feared that he knew too much about their plans, and that he was too emotionally conflicted after spending so much time with Twitter.
From a critical perspective, we’re pretty angry about Keegan Allen’s character being taken from us now, mostly because most of his story was still an enigma. Being deprived of the opportunity to see a face-off between Toby and Spencer is pretty sad, especially since we were really getting pumped up to see him play evil.
Is possible that he is still alive? We’ll have to wait and see if this is another game being played on us. As for Spencer, she is now officially at rock bottom, and inside of a padded cell.
As for the rest of the episode, there are two major revelations worth talking about at the moment: Hanna and Aria dumping Wilden’s car in the lake in an effort to try and dispose of evidence of what happened between him and Hanna’s mom … which you knew was going to come back to haunt them in a pretty big way. As for Aria, she decided that she wanted to take a step back potentially from her relationship with Ezra … at least long enough to figure things out.
