‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: Rumpelstiltskin cashes in his favor

Remember that “favor” that Emma has been owing Rumpelstiltskin for quite some time now on “Once Upon a Time“? As it turns out, the character may have found a pretty good way to cash in on it … and surprisingly, not just for some evil intentions.

As the newest sneak peek from Thursday night’s new episode “Manhattan” clearly shows, the character is going to make his much-anticipated move to try and get the favor from Emma just as Mr. Gold has closed in on finding the very person he is desperate to meet: his son. It’s a nice change to see these characters actually in the real world, largely because this has caused the tables to turn in a pretty serious way. All of a sudden, Rumple is old and feeble, and thus really needs Emma in order to fight some of his battles for him.

As for why this mystery man is running away, there are only three possible explanations:

1. He hears Emma’s voice, and as Neal Cassady he does not want to be anywhere near her given some of the history that these two characters already share.

2. He somehow realizes that Rumpelstiltskin is after him, and this is the sort of father that you are jumping up and down with excitement to meet.

3. He’s not someone familiar with Emma or Rumple, but just doesn’t want to be caught by completely strangers looking for him.

Regardless of who this man, let’s just hope that he is pretty fast. Otherwise, it’s only a matter of time before Emma catches him and learns the truth.
