‘Girls’ season 2, episode 5 preview: Hannah and the great coffee shop fight
Is Hannah Horvath on “Girls” going to keep her job at the coffee shop forever? Well, much of that may depend just on what happens as a result of the new clip below from Sunday night’s new episode.
Basically, her boss at Grumpy’s ends up getting into a heated confrontation with a nearby resident (played by “A Gifted Man” alum Patrick Wilson) over the fact that someone from the establishment is dumping trash in his bins. The problem here is that Hannah’s boss has no idea what he is talking about, and instead looks at him like he is speaking Pig Latin. Since nobody on this show is never shy about sharing their opinion, a number of choice words are uttered as a result. (Just a reminder, the video does contain strong language!)
Later on in the episode, Hannah will try to smooth things over to the best of her ability by finding this man and apologizing for what happened … and then something rather unexpected happens as he invites her inside. While at first she says no out of fear that this could be a “Ted Bundy situation,” she eventually gives in and has an opportunity to learn what this guy is ultimately all about. Considering that we know he becomes a love interest, don’t expect him to go anywhere.
Wilson’s character does bring a pretty exciting new element to the “Girls” universe in that Lena Dunham’s character hasn’t quite been with a man who is this much more mature than her in terms of age, even if Sandy had a much stronger head on his shoulders than she does. It will be interesting to see whether or not her personality changes as a result of having this new sort of influence in her life.
