‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 15 preview: What is Patrick Dempsey doing?

At the end of last night’s “Grey’s Anatomy” season 9 episode, we had an opportunity to see Derek earn the “honor” of becoming the face of Seattle Grace Mercy West. Now, we’re going to have an opportunity to wonder whether or not some people in this establishment are going to start regretting this decision.

Over the course of “Hard Bargain,” we are going to be seeing more than a few messy situations and shake-ups within the walls of this hospital, especially as the battle starts to wage between the current doctors and Alana Cahill over what should be done with the hospital moving forward. The plane crash survivors have started to formulate a plan to move forward and purchase the place, but there is one question that comes along with this: are they really going to be able to make it happen in time?

The shocking part of the first promo for the episode below occurs at the very end, when we see Derek make the shocking move to tender his resignation … but is there more to this story? We certainly have to count on it, as Patrick Dempsey’s character would never go through what he did to get his hand back together in operating shape only to throw in the towel a number of weeks later. ABC’s promo department has a history of being some rather shrewd individuals, and that is more than likely what is going on here: a classic case of medical midirection.

Also in this episode, get ready to see more movement on some of the current relationships … but for the time being, the most important one may actually be between the characters and the hospital.
